Kai Hjermstad

Kai is the Customized Training Coordinator in EMS and Community Paramedic for Hennepin Technical College. From implementation of the Community Paramedic Program, through today’s expanded curriculum, Kai has been instrumental in its ongoing development and expansion nationwide. Kai began his EMS career as an EMT 1989; Paramedic in 1994 becoming a Field Training Officer (FTO); Assistant Director of Mdewakanton Emergency Services in 1995, assisting in their acquisition of their ALS licensing; and initiated the emergency preparedness program for Shakopee Sioux Community. In 2008, he became one of the first eight Community Paramedics in the United States as part of a Community Paramedic pilot program in Minnesota.
