Accessibility

The Paramedic Foundation intends this website to be usable by everyone, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader or magnifier, or rely on adjusted colour and text settings.

Standard applied

paramedicfoundation.org is built and assessed against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium at w3.org/TR/WCAG22. Assessment is against version 2.2 rather than 2.1, which adds criteria for focus visibility behind fixed page furniture, pointer target size, dragging movements, and consistent help.

Conformance

TPF assesses the site as substantially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Substantially conformant means the site meets the standard in the areas assessed, with the known limitations recorded below. TPF does not claim full conformance across every page, because parts of the site carry large legacy document collections that have not each been individually verified.

What has been assessed, and when

A full assessment of the site theme and its interactive components was completed in August 2026, covering colour contrast for text and user interface components, keyboard operability and focus visibility, pointer target size, heading structure, landmark and form semantics, motion preferences, and behaviour behind the fixed page header. Contrast ratios are computed rather than estimated.

On September 27, 2026, every published page was re-tested with the automated checker axe-core 4.10.2. The check found failures on six pages, each since corrected: text contrast in the staffing calculator, the publications feed, the document library and one button on the innovative care page; staffing calculator form controls without accessible names; a second main heading inside the calculator; a link colour on the AI documentation page; and link spacing on the International Roundtable page. After the corrections the checker reported no failures on any page.

The assessment is repeated when the site theme changes materially and is reviewed at least annually.

Known limitations

Documents in the reference library and the historical archive include third-party material, some of it scanned, whose accessibility TPF does not control and has not individually remediated. Video and audio recordings in the community paramedicine archive do not all carry captions or transcripts. The staffing calculator’s form controls were corrected on September 27, 2026 and have not yet been re-tested with a screen reader. The donation form is provided by Zeffy and the newsletter signup form by MailerLite; their accessibility is governed by those providers. Where a document, recording or form presents a barrier, TPF will supply the content or take the request another way.

Assistive technology and browsers

The site is built to work with current versions of common browsers and assistive technologies. It requires no plug-in. Content does not depend on JavaScript, except the staffing calculator, which is an interactive tool built in JavaScript.

Reporting a barrier

If any part of this site prevents you from reaching information you need, tell TPF and it will be addressed. Write to [email protected] with the page address and a description of the problem, or use the contact form. TPF responds to accessibility reports within two business days and will say what it can fix and by when. Where the content sits in a document TPF cannot quickly remediate, it will provide that content another way in the meantime.

Procurement context

TPF delivers work under federal and state awards. Where a client imposes an accessibility requirement of its own, including Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act or a state equivalent, that requirement governs the deliverables produced under it, and the applicable standard is recorded in the deliverable.
