How TPF works with new clients
Most engagements begin with a single conversation. You describe the situation, The Paramedic Foundation asks a few questions, and tells you honestly what TPF can and cannot do for you. There is no pitch.
If it makes sense to move forward, TPF scopes the engagement with you. Scoping defines what questions need answering, what data is available, what the deliverable looks like, and what a realistic timeline and budget would be.

What to include
A short message is enough to get started. Tell TPF your organization, your state, and in a few sentences what you are facing or trying to accomplish. You do not need to frame it as a formal inquiry.

Austere and wilderness care spans wilderness EMS and SAR, event and expedition medicine, and tactical and disaster medicine. If what you are working on does not fit neatly into one of those categories, reach out anyway. Some of TPF’s most productive engagements started as conversations that did not fit a template.

How much does it cost to work with The Paramedic Foundation?
Initial consultations are always free and without obligation. Engagement fees are scoped to the specific work and system. TPF is a Minnesota nonprofit corporation and a tax-exempt charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and fees support the mission. Most clients send a short message, TPF responds within two business days, and scope and budget are discussed only after both parties confirm the fit.
How quickly can TPF engage on a project?
TPF responds to all inquiries within two business days. For time-sensitive situations — RHTP application windows, legislative sessions, or procurement deadlines — flag that in your message. Active engagements can typically begin within two to four weeks of a signed agreement, depending on scope.
What states and regions does TPF work in?
TPF’s work is nationwide. Active and recent engagements include Ohio (continuous since 2017), Nebraska (2019–2026), Alaska (Matanuska-Susitna Borough, ongoing), and Wyoming (ongoing). Prior consulting, stakeholder engagement, and technical assistance spans South Carolina, Iowa, Georgia, Wisconsin, Indiana, Vermont, and other states. International work through the IRCP includes more than 20 countries.
Does TPF only work on large state-level contracts?
No. TPF engages in focused single-deliverable work: a feasibility analysis, a governance framework, a legislative bill review, a financial model, or a community paramedicine program design for a single county or regional advisory body. The size of the engagement does not determine fit — the nature of the problem does.
